In last episode, Foreman gives House his old office back --- minus the conference room. It was obvious right then, that House would be staying in Princeton Plainsboro for a little while... working for Foreman.
In episode 3, "Charity Case", House and his new "team" Park, would be treating Benjamin, who collapsed after making a surprisingly huge charity donation. House suspected that the altruistic behavior is a symptom of a deeper disorder. When the patient offered to donate an organ to another patient, House must find a way to confirm if the patient is on his right mind or not, with the help of Dr. Adams whom we did not see in the last episode.

House Season 8 Episode 2: Transplant -Episode Recap
Foreman brings House back to Princeton Plainsboro on a conditional parole to deal with a "perfect patient" for House...
(Warning: the following may contain spoilers)
A jail guard wakes up House at 3 AM to tell that he has a VIP visitor from real hospital. House, thinking it was Cuddy, told the guard he doesn't want to see her. To his surprise (if that was House's facial expression of surprise), the guard said "'He' told me you would say that". House got up and found out it was his former team member Dr. Foreman.
Foreman offers House to get him out of prison immediately and showed him the judge's order for his immediate release. House will be released on conditional parole and will have to work for the Princeton Plainboro Hospital's new Dean of Medicine... Dr. Foreman. House did not like the idea of going back to his old life .
Foreman explains that House will deal with a "perfect patient" for House. A patient that has no ability to answer questions, and doesn't have a pulse and a body... a pair of lungs in a box! And the lungs got 12 hours left.

House Season 8 Episode 1: Twenty Vicodin
A year after House drove a car through a house, the cane totting, Vicodin popping, self-centered, misanthropic medical genius is back! This time, House is no longer in Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital or in any hospital (not even in a psychiatric one) but where he's expected to be after driving Dr. Wilson's car through Dr. Cuddy's house... in jail!
In the 1st episode of this whole new season of House M.D., house is about to be granted parole in five days, after serving 8 months of his sentence and "good-ish" behavior. However, after annoying at least one of the parole officers with his natural sarcastic remarks during his parole hearing, he's been given a stern warning, or a condition beforebefore his parole would take. House must keep away from trouble in the last five days before his release.

House fans knows Dr. House too well, that after 7 seasons, it's close to impossible for him to keep out of trouble for five days. If that's not challenging enough for Dr. House, when the other inmates heard of this condition, suddenly it has become an open season for House hunting!
On the first day alone, at least two inmates zeroed in for House's personal effects (including his stash of food). Obviously, House can't do anything without risking his parole being revoked. With his devious, manipulative genius at work, however, before the end of the day, he solved his problem without getting himself into trouble (not yet, not on that day at least). Another inmate who become friends with House (House got a friend?!?) knew how the genius doctor did it, warned him that it's only Monday and asked if House got more tricks up his sleeve in order to survive through Friday.

| House Season 8 Episode 1: Twenty Vicodin |
The new season kicks off with House on his day of parole hearing. Considering his "goodish" behavior in 8months of served time, the board decided to grant Dr. House parole within five days. With his naturally annoying antics however, the parole board has given House a stern warning: House must keep away from trouble within 5 days or else he will be staying a few more months in prison. That's 5 days without breaking a single rule! Knowing House, those 5 days will be a great challenge for him.
Could House really keep himself out of trouble for 5 days? What makes these 5 days more challenging for House, "trouble", seems to be, can't stay away from House!
A prison inmate boss, who heard of House's upcoming parole, is enforcing "exit tax" on House. The exit tax happens to be... Vicodin! House must give the inmate boss 20 Vicodin in 5 days. This means, House must give him 4 a day from his daily dose of 6, which is close to impossible for House to survive. House have to use his wits in order to steal the Vicodin for the exit tax and for his daily needs.
